According to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, Vietravel Airlines' dossier has met all requirements for charter capital, plane fleet, business plan and development plan. The administration then asked the ministry to complete the procedures to grant the business license to Vietravel Airlines.
Vietravel Airlines will use the A320/A3211 or B737 planes. The fleet will be extended to eight aircraft in the following five years so it will only account for 1.5-3% of the country's plane fleet during the 2021-2023 period. The market will remain stable.
Vietravel Airlines proposed four operational plans due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic. The ministry has also submitted the plans to the government.
Vietravel Airlines plans to provide mainly charter flights for domestic tourism to Chu Lai, Danang, Quang Nam, Van Don and Hai Phong airports and some international routes. It is a part of the eco-system of Vietravel Tourism Company. Vietravel Airlines said they had prepared carefully and could even start the first flight as early as late 2020, before Tet Holiday.
Aircraft rental fees used to be high and delivery dates were often delayed but due to Covid-19, many airlines cancelled or delayed the contracts so Vietravel Airlines was able to rent and buy aircraft at much more reasonable prices. Low fuel prices are an advantage for new airlines to save costs so that they can hire better employees.
According to Vietravel Airlines, the market will recover noticeably in late 2020 and with better runways at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports so they hope to start the first flight by then. However, in case the pandemic can't be brought under control worldwide and international routes can't be reopened, the first flight will be in 2021.
