Vietnam clear of community infections, 16 positive cases left

All new cases entered Vietnam from foreign countries and were placed into isolation immediately after entry and there is no risk of infection to the community. On June 18 and 19, the nation recorded a total of 14 imported cases and has been through 66 consecutive days without recording any single locally-transmitted case.
One day earlier, patient 333 who is a 37- year- old Vietnamese man was declared to have fully recovered from the virus and was discharged from Ba Ria-Vung Tau General Hospital.

As many as 327 (93.7%) out of total 349 cases have been discharged from hospital after going on to make a complete recovery, and there has been no fatality so far.

Currently, there are 22 patients with COVID-19 being monitored and treated in the country, including 2 having the first test result negative for the SARS-CoV-2 viurs and 4 negative for the second time.

According to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control, 5,724 people in close contact with infected people or returning from pandemic-hit nations are under medical monitoring or quarantine, including 95 at hospitals, 5,347 at quarantine facilities, and 282 at home.

Meanwhile the national steering committee said patient 91, a 43-year-old British pilot is now able to breathe without assistance and communicate well. He is likely to be transferred from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to the Rehabilitation Unit. Doctors said he requires a little more recovery time in order to be able to fully regain the use of his leg muscles and recover the majority of his motor functions.
