Passenger dies falling off ramp stairs in HCM City

A passenger has died after falling off boarding stairs when leaving a plane at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to a representative from the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, the 50-year-old female passenger fell while walking down the ramp stairs after landing on flight VN1379 at 6 pm on June 15.

"The woman, who was going together with her husband and daughter from Hue City, was bleeding on her head after the fall and was given first aid by the medical team at the airport before being sent to the 175 Military Hospital," Vietnam Airlines said.

But she died on June 16.

Initial reports from the airport said that the ramp stairs have a roof and were dry at the time of the accident. And it was not raining.

Vietnam Airlines are co-operating with local authorities to further investigate the accident.
