Work on Rong Lon railway bridge in Quang Tri Province, one of the first among the 15 bridges, was started on Sunday.
The railway revamp project, which has a total investment of VND1.95 trillion (USD84.78 million), is designed to restore 129 weak bridges and pillars on the Hanoi-HCMC railway line between 2019 and 2020.
This is one of 14 key traffic projects in the country approved by the National Assembly’s Standing Committee to use VND15 trillion from reserve funding, which was included in the 2016-2020 medium-term public investment plan mandated by a July 2018 resolution of the committee.
Under the resolution, the local railway sector was allowed to use VND7 trillion of the total VND15 trillion to renovate railway facilities.
