In the proposal sent to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, provincial People’s Committee Chairman Hoang Xuan Anh said that at present, Cao Bang only had road transport.
Cao Bang wants to build an airport by 2030
According to Anh, in 2009, the government approved the plan for national aviation transport development by 2020 and a vision until 2030 which includes the construction of Cao Bang Airport.However, after that, the plan was revised, excluding Cao Bang Airport.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently assigned the Ministry of Transport to work out a general plan on airport development nationwide from 2021 until 2050. The ministry is selecting consulting firms for the work.
The province has proposed building a domestic airport in the 2020-2030 phase, which is some 13 km from the Southeast of Cao Bang City. The airport will also be used for military purposes.
