The Military Command in Dien Bien City has worked with the provincial military engineers to safety detonate a 100-kilo bomb.

Lieutenant Colonel Do Quoc Hung, vice head of the Military Command in Dien Bien City said the bomb was 1.2 metres long with a diameter of 25 centimetres. It was found by the locals in Kha Village, Nam Thanh Ward, on April 18 while they were digging a foundation of construction.

After checking, it was determined that this is one of the bombs used during the bombing in the north of Vietnam in 1968. Since the bomb still had its detonator and could explode anytime, the authorities quickly blocked the area and planned to remove the bomb from residential areas.

On the morning of April 22, the bomb was placed in a deep pit for a controlled explosion in Ta Leng Village, Thanh Minh Commune.

This is the second safe detonation that the Dien Bien City Military Command has carried out this year.
