Bus and taxi services to be suspended nationwide

The Ministry of Transport has ordered a halt to the operation of all passenger buses, contracted cars and taxi services in Vietnam starting from April 1 to 15.

The decision was sent to the Road Directorate of Vietnam, the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam, Vietnam Railways Corporation, Vietnam Maritime Administration, Vietnam Inland Waterways Administration and provincial and city departments of transport.

Passenger buses and taxis are only allowed in special cases such as providing food and necessities to the stores. The Road Directorate of Vietnam must make sure that all bus stations have stopped all inter-province and local passenger buses. The departments of transport will consult the people's committees what cases can be excluded from the ban.

The Ministry of Transport also reduced the number of flights on Hanoi-HCM City route to two two-way trips a day and one two-way trip on Hanoi-Danang and HCM City-Danang routes. Cargo-only flights are still allowed.

All domestic trains will be halted for the time being. Only one two-way trip a day is allowed on Hanoi-HCM City route. Cargo trains are still allowed.

Boat trips from the mainland to the islands will be halted. Vietnam Maritime Administration and the departments of transport will consult the people's committees on special cases that are still allowed to travel such as cargo ships.
