Huynh Van Nghieu from Tan Binh Hamlet was in the last stage of rectal cancer. Due to expensive treatment and hopeless condition, Nghieu returned home and used herbal medicine instead. Nghieu said he couldn't be saved anymore but he was worried about his children's future.

After their story was published, many people have called and donated to help the family. Unfortunately, Nghieu died on March 26.

Ly Hong Loi, vice chairman of Giai Xuan Commune People's Committee visited and lit incense for Nghieu.

Nguyen Thi Tiep, Nghieu's wife, said his health deteriorated quickly and became especially worst since March. Their oldest child is in first grade and the youngest is 18 months old.

Dantri representative and Ly Hong Loi then transferred VND78,890,000 donated by the readers to Tiep and her children. Hoi said he hoped that the children will be able to keep going to school as Nghieu had wished.

Tiep cried upon receiving the money. "Thank you, everyone, for helping us in the past weeks, especially during such difficult times," she said.
