Director of the hospital, Pham Nhu Hiep said that the patient was in good health with no fever or coughs and had tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 in two latest consecutive tests.
"He will be further quarantined for 14 days at the Sun & Sea Resort in Phu Vang District," the doctor said.
According to authorities in Hue, the elderly tourist came to Vietnam with his wife for holiday, arriving in Hanoi on March 2. They had travelled to Cat Ba Island in Hai Phong City before coming to Hue.
After a Covid-19 patient was detected on their flight, they were sought for and brought to quarantine on March 7 in Hue. The wife tested positive for virus on March 8 and the husband on March 14. Both were sent to Hue General Hospital for treatment with two other British tourists.
Doctor Hiep said that the wife and one other British patient are also recovering and are expected to be released soon.

Speaking before leaving the hospital, the tourist sent his thanks to the doctors for treating him and his wife over the past two weeks.
"I hope that my wife will get over soon and we can go home", he said.
Earlier on March 28, a British tourist was also discharged from Hue General Hospital after recovering from the virus.
Vietnam reported 204 Covid-19 cases as of Tuesday afternoon, with 56 patients recovered and discharged from hospital.
