The letter, signed by deputy chairman of the municipal People's Committee, Tran Vinh Tuyen, was published in both Vietnamese and English as a message sent to local and international visitors to the city at the time being.

Ho Chi Minh City sends a letter calling for visitors to co-operate in the fight against Covid-19 epidemic.
"Thank you for your confidence in making Ho Chi Minh City a destination for your holiday," the letter said.
The city leader said sorry for any inconvenience arising from their virus fighting policy.
"As your safety and well-being during your journey are our top priority, we are planning and undertaking precautionary and containment measures amid the Covid-19 outbreak. We do apologise for any inconvenience that may arise. Your co-operation in complying with applicable health regulations aimed at protecting the communities and yourself from Covid-19 is highly appreciated."
The city expected to serve the tourists again in the future.
"I hope you will continue to choose Ho Chi Minh City as part of your next trip to have more opportunities to discover and enjoy our culture, hospitality, and cuisine."
In an effort to curb the rising number of Covid-19 infected case, Ho Chi Minh City has closed all cinemas, bars, clubs and theatres since March 15.
Also on March 17, Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People's Committee, Pham Ngoc Tho sent a letter to eight British tourists who completed a 14-day quarantine period in the area.
"So far, you have not been able to enjoy your trip as expected; the limited facilities and services at the quarantine areas may have caused some inconvenience to you," the letter said. "We hope to receive your understanding to prevent and reverse the epidemic. We highly appreciate and express our sincere thanks for your kind co-operation over these days."

According to deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyen Van Phuc, the eight tourists boarded a flight from London to Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport on March 2 with several virus-infected people. They were found and quarantined at some hotels in Hue City while visiting the area the same day.
"We carried out two viral tests for the tourists which all showed negative during the quarantine time," the official said. "They finished quarantine today in good health."
