Health workers disinfect tourist boats in Ha Long Bay
According to the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, they will suspend tourist boats on Ha Long and Bai Tu Long bays, and temporarily stop receiving visitors to tourists sites in the province including Co To and Van Don islands until March 27.
A report from the provincial Department of Health showed that by 12pm on March 11, the province found three British and an Irish visitors with coronavirus. They boarded the same flight VN00054 from London to Hanoi with Vietnam's 17th virus case on March 2 and stayed in Ha Long between March 2 and 6 and had spent most of their time visiting the bay before being found and sent to Thai Son Hotel for quarantine on March 7.
The four tourists tested positive to SARS-CoV-2 on March 8 and have been moved to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi for treatment.
There are now 1,210 people in quarantine areas in the province, the department said.
The province is now searching for people who had contacts with two other British visitors who were also from the VN00054 flight and visited Ha Long Bay on March 4 and 5 before being found positive with SARS-Cov-2 in Danang and Hoi An.
