Hanoi to set up second makeshift hospital for Covid-19 virus fight

The centre in Thach Hoa Commune, Thach That District, will be turned into a field hospital with 600 beds. The setup is expected to be put into operation within 10 days.

According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha, four areas of the centre which are now left idle can be used for arranging more sick beds. Up to 1,000 beds can be arranged in the area.

The Hanoi health sector has prepared medical force and equipment for the hospital operation.

Vice chairwoman of Hanoi People’s Council Phung Thi Hong Ha instructed the city’s health sector to speed up the establishment of the second field hospital to ensure that it can become operational within 10 days.

The Hanoi Department of Health has proposed to the municipal People’s Committee the VND80,000 (USD3.47) subsidy for people who are quarantined by Covid-19.

Hanoi has confirmed four Covid-19 patients who are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ second branch in Dong Anh District.

Meanwhile, 242 people who were in close contact with the patients are medically monitored.
