The iconic Metropole Hotel in Hanoi has been suspended after two British people who stayed there have been tested positive for Covid-19.

The British guests, who stayed at the hotel from March 2-5, were among 11 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Vietnam Airlines' VN00054 from London to Hanoi on March 2. Hanoi's first Covid-19 patient Nguyen Hong Nhung was also on this flight.

According to Dinh Hong Phong, vice chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, the hotel co-operated with local authorities to identify all staff who came into contact with the British people.

Underground parking lots have been fenced to prevent vehicles from going into.

However, the hotel has not yet been sterilised.
