A British cave expert is being quarantined in the central province of Quang Binh as he was on the same flight with Hanoi's first Covid-19 patient Nguyen Hong Nhung.

Joshua Brian Bratchlay, 29, took Vietnam Airlines' flight VN0054 from London to Hanoi on March 2.

The homestay where the British cave expert is staying has been sterilised

After landing at Noi Bai International Airport, Joshua Brian Bratchlay took another flight to Quang Binh on the same day.

He then stayed at Charm's Homestay in Phong Nha Town, Bo Trach District.

On March 5-8, he and ten tourists went to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. After returning the homestay, the delegation was quarantined.

The British expert was sat in row 17, while Nhung was at the row 5, so the distance was quite close.

Nguyen Duc Cuong, director of Quang Binh Province's Health Department, said the isolation would be for 14 days.

Meanwhile, other people who met with the British cave expert were being monitored at their house.

None of the people in the delegation have any health issues, according to the provincial Department of Health.
