On Monday, the 32-year-old man wrote a status on his Facebook account that two Chinese people suspected to be infected with the deadly virus were staying for treatment at Le Loi Hospital in Vung Tau City.

Just 23 minutes after being published, the news attracted more than 600 shares and 400 comments. He then removed the status. However, it had gone viral, instilling fear among the public. Many people even felt so worried that they decided to cancel their trips to Vung Tau.

One day after that the man was requested to meet the police.

He admitted that he had made up the news.
