Head of the Huong Son Tourist Site Management Board, Nguyen Ba Hien, said that they already welcomed 150,000 visitors during the first five days of Lunar January 2020.

"Although the annual Huong Pagoda Festival officially opens on the sixth day of Lunar January, many visitors flocked to the festival since the first days of the lunar new year," Hien said. "We offered free entrance for three days during the Tet Holiday."

According to Hien, preparations for the festival which will last three months have completed.

"This year we will shorten the ceremonies and advise visitors not to burn votive papers or bring foods as offerings to the temples and pagodas."

The management board had also vowed to ban motorboats from the Yen Stream during the festival but they were still seen causing jams on January 29.
