Dao Xuan Son, the manager of a ticket office for Hanoi-Vinh-Cua Lo route on Khuat Duy Tien Street on Thanh Xuan District, said the office sold up to 700 tickets on the morning of January 6, including 500 booked earlier. His company will have to operate more trips on the route to meet the high demand. However, the company has maintained the price of VND230,000.
Most of the tickets on the route have been sold out, except for those at the last seat rows for trips which are just three days before Tet.
The same situation is seen at a ticket office of Hanoi-Lao Cai route. Nguyen Thi Loan, a student from Hanoi University of Transport and Communications, said she went there quite early but still had to queue for tickets.
Meanwhile, air travel demand has been forecasted to grow by 12% on-year to 12 million passengers for Tet.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), local airports are expected to serve up to 73,000 flights for Tet, or 2,350 flights a day.
Of the figure, Tan Son Nhat Airport would account for 4 million passengers and 30,000 flights, up 11% on-year.
This year's Tet holidays will begin from Thursday, January 23 until Wednesday, January 29.
