According to Hoai, 24 households reported that they had lost contact with their family members who were on the way to the UK on October 23. However, three people contacted their families afterwards. There are seven people missing in Yen Thanh District, seven people in Dien Chau District, three people in Vinh City, two people in Nghi Loc District and one person in Hung Nguyen and Cua Lo.
Seven suspects are being detained by Nghe An police in an investigation into brokering for other people to go abroad or stay abroad illegally. The police have also taken DNA samples from the families for identification tests.
"When there is an official announcement, we'll work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Public Security to bring the bodies of the victims from Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi to their hometowns," Hoai said.
Minister of Public Security To Lam said there was no official news about publishing the victims' identities.
