The railway section has been fenced since October 10

Locals complained their relatives had also been banned from visiting the area as they were thought to be tourists.

They hoped that they could be allowed to continue their business activities and made a commitment to maintain a minimum safety distance of 1.5 metres from the track.

They also proposed installing speakers to issue warnings and cameras as well as signboards in both Vietnamese and English.

However, Pham Tuan Long, vice chairman of the district people’s committee, said that it was impossible to accept the recommendation as the minimum distance of 1.5 metres from the track was not enough safe.

On October 10, the police put up barriers at the entrances to prevent tourists from entering the area running alongside the track.
