Dozens of workers at a wholly Chinese-invested company in the northern province of Nam Dinh have been hospitalised, which is suspected due to suffocation.

On October 14, 37 workers at Golden Victory Vietnam Ltd. Co., which specialises in producing footwear products for export, felt dizzy and nauseous. They then looked pale and suffered from breathing difficulty, causing them to be hospitalised.

Three days later, more than 20 other workers of the company were also sent to hospital for the same symptoms.

On Tuesday, the affected workers came back to work and the firm’s management board said that the ventilation system had been improved. However, just roughly one hour after that, around 20 among those faced the same problems and once again they were taken to hospital.

The workers are now very worried about the situation.

Dozens of other workers who also saw the problems of being dizzy and nauseous, but, their condition was not very serious, so they did not have to be hospitalised.

Following the incident on October 23, the company had to temporarily halt its operations.

The case is under investigation.
