Ca Mau faces severe erosion

Ca Mau Province has over 25km of coastal lines and estuaries and over 1.2km of river banks that have been damaged by erosion and in need of repair. Most of the erosion is in Dat Mui, Vien An, Tam Giang Tay, Nguyen Huan and Tam Giang Dong communes.

Severe erosion has badly affected the daily lives of local people and work at hospitals, state office and the traffic. It got especially worse during storm season.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was asked to work with the district people's committees to determine erosion locations and put up warning signs. They must also survey the site and set up anti-erosion projects.

The Department of Planning and Investment will work with other agencies to review and propose the projects.

The authorities in Nam Can, Ngoc Hien and Dam Doi districts must evacuate the residents to safe zones and monitor the erosion.
