Hoi An pottery village recoganised as national heritage

Thanh Ha pottery village in the central province of Quang Nam’s Hoi An City has been recognised as National Intangible Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Thanh Ha pottery village in the central province of Quang Nam’s Hoi An City has been recognised as National Intangible Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The village has preserved the same way of making pottery for 500 years.

The locality is now home to around 30 production households with 73 employees, including five outstanding artisans and two skilled workers.

The products are divided into two types namely green and red pottery. The first is burned at the temperature of 800-1,000 degrees centigrade while the second burnt at below 300 degrees centigrade.

Major customers of the products are tourists and hotels and restaurants.

Since 2001, the village has become a tourist attraction of Hoi An. Last year, more than 600,000 people visited the village.

Thanh Ha pottery village is located on the banks of the Thu Bon River.
