The incident happened at International Gateway School in Cau Giay District.
A first-grader at an international school in Hanoi has been found dead on a school bus in Hanoi on August 6
The six-year-old boy, Le Hoang Son, was found dead on the vehicle at 4:30 pm on Tuesday.
According to the boy’s father Le Van Son, Tuesday was the second day for his son to take the school bus. The child was not used to getting up early and felt a little bit sleepy, but he was in good health and was excited to meet his new classmates.

By 4 pm the same day, his wife was informed by his son’s teacher that their child was absent from class. Coming to the school, the teacher told the boy’s parents that she did not know where he was.
The couple immediately rushed to look for their son but they failed. After that, the school called them to report that the boy overslept on the bus so he fainted and had been taken to E Hospital for first aid. When they came to the hospital, their son had died already, Son said in tears.
According to the school chairman Tran Thi Hong Hanh, the boy was given with the first aid at the school’s medical room before being hospitalised. At that time, he fainted.
However, a clip showed that the boy was taken out of the bus in the state of hemiplegic rigidity. Doctors from E hospital confirmed that the boy had died before being hospitalised, adding that it took the bus just around 20 minutes from the school to hospital, so the boy couldn’t suffer from such hemiplegic rigidity.
Son said that initially, the school teachers tried to hide the case, but later, they admitted that the boy had been left on the vehicle between 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
On Tuesday evening, the school issued a report with the same content about the boy’s death on its website to evade the responsibility, which stirred public outrage.
The school leader accepted their ignorance to leave the boy on the bus, noting that they would take responsibility for the incident.
Nguyen Duc Chung, Hanoi People’s Committee, instructed authorities of Cau Giay District to conduct further investigation into the boy’s death. Following the case, the city would have more specific regulations on the operation of school buses.
