Three months after launching a design contest to call for entries for Hoang Thuy’s national costume outfit at the Miss Universe 2019, three best designs have been chosen including Con Co or Crane, Ca Phe Phin Sua Da or Iced Milk Coffee, and Vung Dat Chin Rong or The Land of Nine Dragons.

Con Co by designer Nguyen Duc Liem is praised for how reminiscent the outfit is of the spirit of rural Vietnam.
With Ca Phe Phin Sua Da, designer Tran Nguyen Minh Duc puts the nation’s coffee-drinking culture on display in a single outfit.
Vung Dat Chin Rong or The Land of Nine Dragons
Meanwhile, Vung Dat Chin Rong by designer Hoang Huu Kha has impressed viewers due to the nine dragon heads protruding from the back of the design.
During the earlier stages of the competition, 18 outfits were presented to the judging panel before a decision was made on the contest’s final three entries. The competition’s judging panel included Miss Universe 2017 H’Hen Nie, along with designers Thuan Viet, Linh San, Ngo Manh Dong Dong, Nguyen Minh Tuan, and Nguyen Minh Cong.
The designers of the three outfits will complete their national costumes ahead of the final round in order to decide which outfit Hoang Thuy will wear at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.
