In Vietnam, the 15th day of lunar July is called the Ghost Day and the 7th month in general is regarded as the Ghost Month, in which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm.
Vietnamese people often think that they would face unfortunate things in this month. The month is also considered an inauspicious time of the year for buying valuable items such as cars as well as doing important things such as holding weddings or ground-breaking ceremonies for houses.



Today, August 1, is also the first day of the Ghost Month. Flows of people came to Tay Ho Temple to pray for peace and good things in the month.

People have to hustle in crowds to go into the main worshipping area of the temple. Those who fail to find a seat stand outside for worshipping
