The case happened at around 5:00 am this morning, July 15, in Tan Nhuan Commune.

The riverside houses in the southern province of Dong Thap sink due to the erosion on July 15
Vo Dinh Trong, head of Chau Thanh District’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the houses accommodated 12 people who were evacuated before the incident.
Seven other houses in the area also face the collapse. Local authorities are quickly moving possessions out of the houses
Signs of erosion were detected since three weeks ago. The authorities called on the locals to evacuate.
Temporary shelters have been arranged for people who lost their homes.
In April 2017, Dong Thap Province declared a state of emergency as the Tien River, a tributary of the Mekong, as it was threatening to engulf more than 200 houses. This came just one week after erosion spread 50 metres inland along more than 160 metres along the Vam Nao River in the nearby An Giang Province, sending 16 houses into the river.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Mekong Delta region loses around 500 hectares of land to sea and river erosion every year.
It is estimated that by 2050, the lives of one million people in the delta will be directly affected.
