The pavement needed to be redone

Even though the pavement along Tam Bac River near Sat Market, Hong Bang District, has only been built a few days ago, it already has cracks and subsidence and needs to be redone completely.

Nguyen Van Loc, director of the Management Board of Construction Projects in Hong Bang District, said the pavement was damaged because the embankment of that section was built a long time ago. At that time, there was no decision to dredge the river to direct the water flow.

The management board realised the threat of erosion so they built a barrier with a row of piles to protect the pavement. However, the compressors are too heavy and damaged the pavements.

The district authorities have asked the contractor to redo the pavement.

The pavement belongs to an urban facelift project along Tam Bac River invested by Hong Bang District People's Committee. The project costs VND1.4trn (USD60m) including 13 bidding packages.

The contractors must dredge the river, build a pile barrier to protect the embankment and expanded the pavements. The project was completed and put into use on May 9.
