Minh was born blind and is the youngest child in the family. His sisters and brothers all are married and very poor. So no one can help him and their mother financially.
Minh and his mother Bui Thi Lich, 75, is now living in a small house which has been restored. They still owed money for the house upgrade.
Lich has been diagnosed with cervical cancer since 2007. The treatment was so costly that her family couldn’t afford it so she returned home for self-treatment.
In 2011, she suffered from pains in chest and doctors said that this was the symptom of lung cancer. Since then, the two diseases have tortured her.

To have money to buy medicines for the mother, Minh has come to Pleiku City to beg over the past seven years. Sometimes, he returned home without any money after being robbed by drug addicts.
Despite the difficulties, Minh has continued to beg as the only way for him to support the family.
Lich said she ever wanted to die but is afraid that her blind son would be lonely.
Nguyen Thanh Hao, vice chairman of Hoa Phu Commune, said that Minh’s family is among the poorest in the locality. They have borrowed VND25 million from the local poor household supporting programme for their home.
