A flood in Quang Dien District, Thua Thien-Hue Province
The provincial authorities have implemented measures to strengthen public awareness and called for funds from the private sector to help poor people. They urged locals to quickly build the new house model, especially those that still do not have a proper house. The locals will receive support from the authorities to complete their houses before the rainy season.
The project will be funded by the Green Climate Fund's none-refundable aid via the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Each household will be given the support of VND70m (USD3,000) to build a new home.
Green Climate Fund will support USD1,700 per household. VND16m will come from Vietnam's reciprocal capital and VND15m from preferential loans from the Social Policy Bank of Vietnam.
In 2018, the UNDP gave high regard to Vietnam's action plan as Thua Thien-Hue Province successfully built 135 flood-proof houses.
