Hanoi People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung says that the city has finished he preparations for the Trump-Kim summit
Speaking with Dantri/DTiNews on the sidelines of a Sunday meeting with members of the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the city's leader said Hanoi was very proud to be chosen for the summit and have tried its best to prepare for the event.
"Although we had enormous work to do in just two weeks, we’re ready for the summit," he said. "Over the past years Hanoi had successfully hosted many major international events including APEC, ASEM, and IPU-132 conferences, official visits by leaders of many countries as well as many ASEAN sports events. So we are confident that we can host this summit”.
Chung also said that he expected the summit would open a new page in world peace, and coincidentally is being held in Hanoi- recognised 20 years ago as a City for Peace.
"The summit will take place on the occasion of 20 years since Hanoi received the City for Peace title from UNESCO. We are the only city in Asia to have received such title," he said. "We have called on each resident of the city to become an ambassador to promote a friendly and hospitable Hanoi."
The same day, Chung and Deputy Minister of Public Security Bui Van Nam visited the International Media Centre to inspect final preparations.
