Family fined for holding party on highway

A family in the northern central province of Thanh Hoa which had a meal on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Highway has been fined VND5.5 million.

Earlier on February 6, a man live streamed his family’s party on his Facebook account. The family stopped their car in the emergency lane and then ate there.

The clip drew hundreds of comments, with many saying this was too risky not only for themselves but also for other people.

The man who live-streamed the party had his driving licence suspended for two months.

Following the public outrage, the man who posted the clip apologised saying it was just something lighthearted and he hadn’t thought through the consequences.
