The turtle's health condition has improved

On November 20, the animal was found so exhausted it couldn’t swim. After one week treatment with antibiotics, there was little improvement.

According to X-rays, the turtle’s digestive system contained many pieces of plastic, sponge and fishing net. This had caused digestive problems for it. So the animal was taken to Family Hospital in Danang for an operation.

The two-hour endoscopy removed roughly a tenth of the rubbish in the turtle’s digestive system, mostly small things.

Doctors said that they will conduct another endoscopy to remove the remainder, including bunches of net stuck in the turtle’s large intestine in the days to come.

The animal’s health has improved a bit and it can now swim.
