A Japanese naval submarine arrived at Cam Ranh International Port in the southern coastal province of Khanh Hoa this morning, September 17, starting a five-day visit to Vietnam.

A Japanese naval submarine arrived at Cam Ranh International Port in the southern coastal province of Khanh Hoa this morning, September 17, starting a five-day visit to Vietnam.

This is among activities to mark the 45th anniversary of Japan-Vietnam ties and implement defence co-operation agreements signed between the two countries.

The Japanese naval submarine at Cam Ranh International Port

During the stay in Vietnam, the Japanese commanding officers will meet provincial officials and representatives from High Command of Region 4 of the Vietnam People’s Navy. There will be also a meeting between the command and the Japanese crew for exchanging experiences as well as sports activities.

The Japanese side will also take a tour to Nha Trang City.

This is the first visit of the Japanese submarine to Vietnam, which is expected to help sharpen the bilateral defence co-operation. It is also hoped to contribute to maintaining peace, stability and co-operation in the region.

Last year, the Japanese Naval vessel Fuyuzuki docked at Cam Ranh International Port for a five-day visit to Vietnam.
