The Vietnam Olympic team made history with its first entrance into the ASIAD quarter-finals after winning 1-0 against Bahrain during the closing stages of the last 16 round of the men’s ASIAD 2018 football tournament in Indonesia on August 23.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent his congratulations to the team for the achievement.
In his congratulatory letter, PM Phuc expressed hope that the team would continue to reap success and make great strides at ASIAD.
Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who is also President of Vietnam Olympic Committee decided to present a cash bonus of VND200 million (USD9,090) to the Vietnam Olympic team for their first entrance into ASIAD quarterfinals.
The minister also congratulated the team and head coach Park Hang-seo on their good performance at the continental tournament. He wished the whole team and coach Park Hang-seo good health and hoped they would prepare well for the next game.
Meanwhile, Voice of Vietnam Radio offered a cash prize of VND500 million (USD22,727) to the team immediately after its win over Bahrain.
The Vietnam Television Corporation (VTC), a subordinate unit of the Radio Voice of Vietnam, on August 21 announced that it has earned the right to broadcast all sporting events within the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018.
From August 22, Vietnamese audiences can watch all games of Vietnam during the ASIAD 2018 live on VTC channels, or smartphones and smart TV through the firm’s app VTC Now, or at its online newspapers at vov.vn and vtc.vn.
