The storm would be at the north of the Gulf of Tonkin which is some 120-150 kilometres from the coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Nam Dinh provinces by early August 16.

The National Centre for Hydro-meteorology Forecasting warned that the northern and the northern central region would have torrential rains between August 14-17.

The northern region recently faced heavy rains, causing severe floods and landslides in many localities.

Some residential areas in Hanoi’s suburbs were even isolated by flood water for around two weeks.

Several houses in the northern province of Hoa Binh fell into the Da River due to erosion, which was the result of heavy rains.
