Under the proposal of the board, the fees for five sightseeing routes in Ha Long Bay would be increased by 5-12%, depending on different services.

The fees for daytime tours will be raised by 5% to VND300,000 (USD13.63) per person.

Meanwhile, the fees for overnight trips would be increased to VND900,000-1,300,000 per person per trip from the current VND500,000-750,0000 (USD22.72-34.09).

Pham Dinh Huynh, deputy head of the bay management board, said the proposal was based on the Ministry of Finance’s instructions on fees. However, the final decision would be made at the provincial People’s Council in October 2018.

Once approved, this would be the second time for the rise of Ha Long Bay’s entrance fee increase since April 2017.

Huynh said that 11% of the bay entrance fees are given to the management board, while the remainder is handed over to Ha Long City’s People’s Committee.

Last year, the bay’s entrance fees were estimated to have raised around VND1.02 trillion (USD45.51 million).
