Nursery shut down after child abuse accusation

A nursery school in Danang City has been shut down after two video clips showing the children being hit by teachers were uploaded onto the internet.

Ngo Chinh Cong, vice head of Chinh Gian Ward People's Committee said on May 21 that they had shut down Me Cuoi Nursery and started an investigation immediately after receiving the news.

"We've called the nursery's owner, Dinh Thi Hong, to the police station and the parents to take their children home," he said.

The video stirred up anger among the public

The video clips were recorded in April and the abusing teacher is Dinh Thi Hong who had been taking care of a group of 10 to 15 children. Hong was looking after 14 children at the time. Cong confirmed the abuse accusation and said they were waiting for the parents to calm down to ask for information.

The video clips were only posted onto Facebook on May 21 with many photos showing the abuse. Two women took two boys' shirts off and made them lay down on the ground while forcing food down their mouth. When a boy cried, one of the women used a towel to cover his face and continued slapping him.

A crowd of people angrily gathered in front of the nursery on May 21.

It's unclear who took the video, Cong said.
