Supermarkets face congestion as Tet nears

Hanoi’s supermarkets are massively overcrowded in the run-up to the Lunar New Year.

Supermarkets in Hanoi such as Big C Thang Long, Mega Market Pham Van Dong and Fivimart Hoang Quoc Viet have been all crowded with people who flocked to buy products for Tet over the past few days.

Some supermarkets had cashiers at stalls which sell fresh food and bakery to ease the crowding, however, people still had to queue up to pay.

At Big C Thang Long Supermarket, lots of customers had to wait up to half an hour, despite 50 cashiers being on duty. Some people were forced to abandon their shopping before being able to pay.
