Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City is facing serious congestion due to the number of people visiting for the Lunar New Year or Tet.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City is facing serious congestion due to the number of people visiting for the Lunar New Year or Tet.

Tran Doan Mau, director of Southern Airports Authority, said that the airport has been estimated to serve up to 4.1 million passengers during the peak time of Tet Holiday occasion from January 30 to March 2 with nearly 26,300 flights.

He added that the airport will tighten control over the flight and conduct more flights at night.

Families are again being advised to reduce the number of people who come to the airport to welcome their relatives to mitigate the congestion.

Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific will raise the number of flights during Tet by 10-15% from a year earlier.

Airport authorities have worked with airlines to improve ground services to cope with congestion during the year’s biggest holiday in three weeks’ time.
