Nearly VND207m donated to Luong Hoang Gia's family
Hoang Thi Ha, Gia's mother, said after their story was published, many people called. Some people offered to pay all hospital charges for Gia. Gia was transferred to HCM City Children's Hospital 1 and has recovered from pneumonia and septicaemia.
"I thought my son wouldn't be able to survive but thanks to everyone, we can give him treatment now. We're lucky and very happy," she said.
15-month-old Luong Hoang Gia suffers from hydrocephalus
Gia's family is in Ea Po Commune, one of the most difficult areas in Cu Jut District that have no electricity or clean water. Hoang Thi Ha said she and her husband's family were too poor to hold a wedding. When their daughter was one year old, their house collapsed. Luckily, their neighbour let them stay in a vacant house.
They were happy when Ha was pregnant with their second child, Luong Hoang Gia, but he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus during pregnancy. She was advised to abort the child but refused. Her husband has congenital heart disease and left home to find work.
Gia was admitted to hospital last December because of acute pneumonia, septicaemia and respiratory failure. Their family doesn't have any valuable belongings and had already borrowed tens of millions of VND. No one wanted to lend them money anymore.
