Vinasun to sue Grab Taxi
According to Vinasun, they and Grab Taxi are competing unfairly in term of prices and they can sue based on the Law on Competition. They have gathered evidence and will play 20 video clips at the court, showing that Grab is involved in price dumping, such as giving discounts for more than 90 days a year. Such unfair competition will let Uber and Grab Taxi take over the market and ruin traditional taxi firms.
Vinasun said it was unfair when Uber and Grab Taxi had started numerous discount programmes without permission from the managing authorities. The authorities in several countries such as Indonesia, Thailand and Japan also categorised Uber and Grab Taxi as "disguised taxi firms".
Vinasun proposed classifying Uber, Grab Taxi and similar firms as a regular taxi firm that needs to register prices, how many cars they are allowed to use, publicise their revenues and pay required taxes.
In their document, Vinasun claimed that in the first quarter of 2017, about 4,239 Vinasun employees lost their jobs and over 300 cars were left unused because of a lack of demand.
