Contractor China Railway Sixth Group Co, Ltd reported the case on December 26.

"The train was brought to Cat Linh Station to have equipment fitted in. Breaking into the construction site and spraying graffiti on the train is vandalism," the management board's representative said.

The Railway Project Management Board sent employees to inspect the scene and asked China Railway Sixth Group to submit a detailed report to the authorities. They have demanded to increase security at the construction site. Cat Linh-Ha Dong Metro Line Management Board also asked the city and district police to help secure the properties to ensure the project's progress.

The graffiti includes phrases and tags such as Hello Vietnam, 5LCR and Paris 17.

The 13km metro line will have 12 elevated stations with an investment of USD868m, an USD300m increase on the original cost.

The project is also severely behind schedule. The trial run was supposed to start in October and the train will officially run in the second quarter of 2018. However, the Ministry of Transport announced that the project was stagnant and the investor proposed to delay the project 11 months.
