Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City has donated VND100 million (USD4,545) in prize money won at the Vietnamese Talent Awards 2017 to people who have been affected by Storm Tembin.

The hospital received the first prize for the kidney transplant operation given by a dead donor. The granting ceremony of the awards was held on November 16, 2017 in Hanoi.

The Vietnamese Talents Awards were jointly held by Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper, Vietnam Television and Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group.

On December 25, DTiNews Editor-in-chief Pham Huy Hoan and a representative from the Ministry of Health came to the hospital to grant the first prize worth VND100 million to the hospital.

At the meeting, Associate Prof. Dr. Nguyen Truong Son, director of the hospital, said that the hospital had paid more attention to using advanced technology and equipment for the medical checks-up and treatment. The hospital had received many accolades for its organ transplant operation.

Editor-in-chief Pham Huy Hoan said that the Vietnamese Talent Awards were first launched in 2005, focusing on information and technology mainly. In 2008, it was expanded to the health sector to honour the contribution made by the country’s medical professionals.

After being granted with VND100 million, the hospital decided to hand over the award to people who have been affected by Storm Tembin through DTiNews' Compassionate Hearts Charity Fund.
