Hanoi sightseeing bus route agreed

Hanoi Department of Transport has announced the route for the double-decker sightseeing bus after the first trial run in June.

The first double-decker bus began services on June 30 and was scheduled to run pass famous attractions such as the Opera House and the Temple of Literature. While many approve of the new tour bus, some have said it might not be suitable to Vietnam's streets and weather.

In accordance with the Hanoi People's Committee's directives about launching new types of bus in the urban and airport areas, the departments of transport, tourism and public security have reached a consensus to officially launch the double-decker tour bus.

Hanoi Transport Corporation was asked to submit a plan that included related problems. After reviewing the plan, the Hanoi Department of Transport has approved the route through 19 streets.

According to the plan, the bus will run through well-known destinations such as the Opera House then through Trang Tien, Dinh Tien Hoang streets, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Le Thai To garden. When the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake open on the weekend, the bus will have a slightly different route.

There will be 14 bus stops, two of which are near the Women’s Museum. The buses on different routes will have different colours.

The Department of Tourism asked Hanoi Transport Corporation will ensure passengers are comfortable even during hot weather. The ticket prices need to be approved by the Ministry of Finance.
