Dak Lak to build 4-7 solar power plants by 2020

The provincial authorities have approved a project to build a 50-MW solar power plant in Ea Sup District.

The central highlands province of Dak Lak plans to build four to seven solar power plants by 2020 with a total capacity of 8,00-1,000 MW.


The project invested by Long Thanh Ia Lop Ltd. Co. is located on a 65-hectare site. The provincial authorities have also agreed to the investor’s proposal to raise the project’s capacity to 400MW in the long term.

The project implementation will see the participation of foreign experts.

Dak Lak has planned to build four to seven solar power plants with a total capacity ranging between 8,00MW and 1,000 MW. By 2030, the capacity is expected to be raised to 3,500 – 4,000 MW.

To date, Dak Lak has attracted many solar power projects such as Xuan Thien solar power projects with a total investment of USD2.2 billion and Long Thanh solar power plant with a total investment of USD320 million.

US power group AES Corporation has signed an MOU to invest USD750 million in a solar factory, which will have the capacity to generate 300 to 500 MW.
