Kindergarten collapse under investigation

The authorities in Hanoi have asked for a report on the collapse of an on-going kindergarten construction in Nam Tu Liem District on September 25.

The construction collapsed at 3 am on September 25.

An inspector in Nam Tu Liem District's Department of Construction confirmed the incident. "We sent employees to the scene and are working to investigate the cause of the collapse," he said.

The kindergarten has three floors completed before 500 square metres of the construction suddenly collapsed at 3 am. The workers were still working at the time when the construction started shaking. The builders were able to escape.

The locals were shocked and said it was lucky that the kindergarten hadn't opened yet for children.

Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung also asked the authorities of Nam Tu Liem District to report about the case.

In 2009, Hanoi authorities issued a permit for investors Truong Vuon Xanh to build Vuon Xanh private kindergarten project which covers nearly 4,400 square metres. However, the land was left idle for years and became a dumping site.

In 2016, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment proposed to continue the project. The construction is carried out by Tran Vu Trading and Technology Company. Hai Dang Import-Export Trading Company is the supervisor.
