Hanoi to widen city's surveillance system

The Department of Information and Communication said they would review the whole camera system if receiving orders from the city authorities as the surveillance cameras for where the documents are received and results are returned at the headquarter of Van Mieu Ward People's Committee haven't worked since 2015. Many surveillance cameras in the districts aren't connected with the city's system.

Hanoi also has the surveillance cameras of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Guard High Command, the National Guard High Command, the city police and private cameras. According to the authorities, the camera system hasn't been upgraded and haven't been fully exploited.

Hanoi Chairman said, "Hanoi has about 400 cameras. In the coming time, we'll invest in 4,000 cameras. However, we need a suitable centre to manage everything with modern technology. We are building a plan to start a general monitoring networks centre on Vo Chi Cong Street on December 31."

The city will call for investment from the private sector.
