Life of people and tourists has been affected by a long power cut on Cat Ba Islands on August 9.
According to Hai Phong Power Company, the power outage on Cat Ba Island occurred on the morning of August 8 due to the break of the 35 kV submarine power cable which connects the island to Cat Hai District.
Investigations found that a section of the cable was seriously damaged and broken. The cable might have been struck by a large cargo ship, the company said.
The long power cut has largely affected lives of local people and tourists on the island. Thousands of tourists have been unable to stay in their hotels and had to hang out on the beach or forest trying to hide from the hot weather.
Electric-powered vehicles have suffered.
By this afternoon, the power has not been restored while the company said they were still trying to fix the problem to restore power later today.
