Le Duc Giap, a local from Thanh Oai District, Hanoi said that he earned VND500m (USD22,100) in profits from selling trees that grow multiple types of fruit.
Giap said during the times leading to Tet Holiday, he was able to sell five to ten trees each day. This year, he has successfully grafted 60 trees with three types of pomelo, three types of orange, mandarin, lime, Buddha's hand and kumquat.

He also grows 30 trees with five to six types of fruits. Half of which has been booked months ago.
"Customers already came to our garden since May. If they liked the form, they would book the tree immediately and will return in October to see the process," he said.
Customers observe the trees
The price of each tree doesn't depend on the number of fruits but the size of the tree. There are trees cost only from VND1m (USD44) to VND10m so that everyone can buy one for Tet Holiday. Giap said he had kept the price stable since he started grafting trees in 2008. In the first year, he didn't have experience so the fruits didn't ripen at the same time.

In the next year, he hadn't been able to find many customers and sold for acquaintances or rent out the trees.
"When people returned home for Tet and went to village festivals, they saw the trees and we started having more customers and became well-known from 2010. It took me seven months to grow a tree. The work started in April," he said.
Giap grafted the pomelo in April and then in June and October grafted on other types of fruits. He has customers from various provinces including Quang Binh, Thai Nguyen and Ho Chi Minh City.

The trees can be displayed for two to three months. Giap also grows many other types of trees, including oranges, limes and kumquat trees.
