Newly-excavated locations at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long will be opened for visitors
Tran Viet Anh, Director of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Preservation Centre said archaeologists had uncovered various items and traces in the ancient courts including Ly, Tran, Le and Nguyen dynasty finds over the past 13 years. The work aims to understand more about the site through 13 centuries and to renovate Kinh Thien Palace.
"However, because we still haven't had the means to properly preserve the artefacts so after each year, we had to cover up the locations," he said. "Hanoi’s authorities decided to let visitors view the unearthed locations and the items this Lunar New Year holiday."
Visitors can view the architecture used during Le Trung Hung and Ly dynasties, the brick pathway and the incense offering room at Kinh Thien Palace.
From January 20 to February 28, Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Preservation Centre will work with collectors and artisans in craft villages to hold an exhibition for various items excavated at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long.
An exhibition for Tet will display Hang Trong, Dong Ho and Kim Hoang prints thanks to Hanoi Ceramics Museum. There will also be a photo exhibition with 100 photos of Vietnam and court costumes provided by researcher Trinh Bach and Trinh Family Foundation with 15 court costumes from the Trinh Lord and Nguyen royalty periods.
Ornamental trees and flowers will decorate the front yard of Doan Mon with themes of the rising phoenix, brothers in arms or dragon festival. In addition, visitors can enjoy various other activities such as incense offering to the kings and water puppetry.
